Sr. Maria Thérèse Brosnan is a member of the Cistercian Community of nuns at St. Mary's Abbey, Glencairn. The memory of the call of the wild graylag geese as they flew over Poulaphouca Lake near Ballymore Eustace where Maria previously lived was the inspiration for Timmy Waddle.
Michele Scott (Lenehan) lives in Hollywood, Co. Wicklow, not far from Ballymore Eustace where this story is set. Michele paints in various media, her favourite being watercolour and is greatly inspired by the natural beauty and rich history of West Wicklow.
